- We are still here! As grassroot communities recognizing HeadStart, Client Council, Welfare Rights, Capital Area Legal Services Board,Staff and Director James Wayne for giving us the beginning of organization structure. Also, recognizing Bert and Mary Meyer Foundation for giving us the first opportunity to deal with financial structure. Going back to 1997 when we connected with Southern Partner Fund, Southern Echo, and the partnership with Southeast Research Center in 2001 WE HAD A DREAM of creating a grassroot organization coalition in Louisiana better known as LEJCOC! LEJCOC is a state-wide group formed to support and address the needs of environmental justice communities in Louisiana: including poverty, health, racism, crime, violence and other social-economic problems. The Coalition seeks to bring poor and environmentally-challenged communities in Louisiana to the table with governmental entities and industry to help provide solutions to local community-health and environmental problems.
